Branson, MO—The Minnesota team advancing to the Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series will be the Baxter, MN team.
The team is made up of 12 young athletes that won the Minnesota State Tournament 8-4. The team has been working on their #MissionMissouri since early July.
“We are a blue-collar team that likes to get our uniforms dirty,” said Baxter Baseball head coach Steve Hanson. The team is quite the active group with many participating in a multitude of sports including ice fishing. “This is the state of hockey,” Hanson said, “but you wouldn’t know it with this bunch. They love baseball!”
The team is “extremely excited” to be attending the world series according to Hanson. Jonathan Benson, #4 on the Minnesota team, said that he was looking forward to “meeting kids from all over the world.”
The Minnesota team will make their world series debut against the Kansas State Tournament champions at 11:00 a.m. on August 3 at Ballparks of America in Branson, MO.
